Frequently asked questions
We are situated right on the border of Surrey, Sussex, and Kent.
Lingfield Village is just a five-minute drive or around a 30-minute walk along the pavement.
You will find a Tesco Express, Co-Op and Morrisons Daily. Post Office, Coffee Shops and Cafe's. Plus Fish & Chips, Pizza and Indian Restaurants. The Greyhound Sports Bar, and The Star Family pub - with outdoor play area are great options.
There are two routes to The Wiremill on the Lake pub/restaurant: either a ten-minute walk or a thirty-minute walk across the fields directly from the campsite.
British Wildlife Centre: It is practically our neighbour—just a short footpath walk away.
Lingfield Park Racecourse: Great for a day out.
London Temple: A stunning site with beautiful public gardens.
Day Trips: We are within an hour of both London and Brighton if you fancy a city day or a beach day.
While we don't have swimming directly on-site, there are some great outdoor swimming and paddling options in the local area depending on what kind of experience you are looking for:
Â
Divers Cove (Godstone): Located just about 15 minutes away, this is a beautiful sand and gravel quarry lake specifically set up for open-water swimming. It has great facilities, but you do need to book a swim session online in advance via their website.
Â
Hever Castle Lake & River Swims (Hever): Roughly 20 minutes away, they occasionally host open-water swimming events or set sessions in their spectacular 38-acre lake. It's worth checking their schedule to see if a swim aligns with your weekend.
Â
Outwood Common & Local Streams: If you are just looking for a very shallow, casual paddle for children or to dip your toes during a walk, there are lovely woodland walking routes around Outwood (about 10-15 minutes away) with small streams, though they aren't suitable for proper swimming.
Â
Trisails / Mercers Lake (Redhill): About 20-25 minutes away, this is another fantastic dedicated watersports lake that offers organized open-water swimming sessions.
Â
A quick tip: Because open-water venues in the area usually require pre-booking and safety briefings, we highly recommend checking the websites for Divers Cove or Mercers Lake ahead of time to secure a slot for your weekend.
We allow BBQs and fire pits (that do not drop ash directly on the grass) are permitted, but they must be at least 18 inches off the ground (i.e. the legs must be at least 18 inches high).
N.B: In periods of drought Long Acres reserves the right to withdraw permission for fire pits and BBQs.
Fire pits can be hired at a charge of £62.00 for a two night hire. Included in the cost is two barrels of wood (1 for each night) plus kindling and firelighters.
Please contact reception to pre-order.
We are a family-run site focused on relaxation. We ask for quiet hours in the evenings, from 10:00pm - 08:00am so everyone can enjoy the peace of the countryside. If you are looking for a loud party site, we might not be the best fit!
We are also 10 miles from Gatwick airport so some plane noise is to be expected.
All our units (Pods, Bell Tents, Shepherd's Hut, and Lodges) come with freshly laundered bedding included in the price. No need to lug your duvet with you! They also all feature electricity, heating, a kettle, and a counter top fridge/mini-fridge.
Woodmans Lodge, Tree House and Beach Shack all have an en-suite toilet and shower.
Note: The Cedar, Pathfinder, Higgledy Piggledy, Shepherd's Hut, and Bell Tents share our clean, central facilities block.
We are here to welcome you during the following hours:
Monday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Wednesday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Thursday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday: 9:30 am – 2:30 pm
What if I get stuck in traffic and arrive late? We know travel doesn't always go to plan. If you think you will arrive outside of Reception hours, please call us on 01342 833 205 as early as possible so we can arrange your check-in. Note that calls outside hours divert to an emergency line that cannot access the booking system, so please call ahead!
There is space for one car on each camping pitch.
Car parking for Woodmans Lodge, Beach Shack and The Treehouse is available beside the glamping pod.
Bell Tent parking is opposite the Bell Tents.
Parking for Higgledy Piggledy, Pathfinder, Cedar Pod and the Shepherds Hut is in a small car park behind the pods.
Extra cars can be parked in the small visitors car park just outside the campsite gate.
